Moira Place is offering an exciting full-time opportunity for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), who is passionate about developing and enhancing services to support residents experiencing responsive behaviours.

Behavioural Supports Coordinator (BSC) reports to the Director of Care and works collaboratively with our entire long-term care team.

Utilizing Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) tools, processes, and resources, the BSC will educate staff and increase the Home's capacity and competency in behaviour management.


Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate services and supports provided to residents who experience complex and responsive behaviours associated with dementia and related conditions
  • Utilize various assessment tools to conduct initial and ongoing assessments, identifying and recommending interventions in residentcentred plans of care
  • Train, advise, and supervise staff regarding specialized protocols and approaches in the management of residents with complex behaviours
  • Assist in policy and procedure development, ensure that all CQI and reporting requirements are met, and represent the Home in various BSO initiatives
  • Provide analysis of data and indicators generated in the Home, including interpretation and reports for management use in decision making
  • Promote teamwork and good relationships with coworkers, assisting as required and demonstrating dependability, including a good record of attendance and availability

Qualifications:


  • Valid license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse from the Ontario College of Nurses
  • Knowledge of dementia, including disease progression, symptoms, and that most observable behaviours have meaning
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and assessment processes, current treatment interventions, and strategies to promote quality of life for our residents
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Leadership abilities, including good judgement, composure, and tact
