Intermediate Payroll & Benefits Clerk


COMP
C.U.P.E Term assignment to August 30, 2024, Level 5)

Under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor, the Intermediate Payroll & Benefits Clerk:
administers Ontario Teachers' Pension (TPP) plan;
deals with all employee pension inquiries;
performs annual pension validation and reconciliation process;
maintains the pension process documentation for business continuity;
keep up to date with changes from TPP and legislation that affect pension;
back-up to cover OMERS pension administration;
administers all pay related benefit coverages for all Board employees under the various Extended Health and Life Trusts (EHLT)

liaises with Human Resources and the EHLT to ensure employee health, life and LTD coverages are accurate;
reconciles and issues monthly payments to the various insurance carriers and EHLT for all premiums;
ensures receipt of employee premiums from employees on leave (Debit Pay set-up);
performs other duties, as assigned by the supervisor.


Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
one year of Community college in a related field;
three to five years of pension and/or payroll related experience;
familiarity with relevant legislation (i.e. Employment Standards Act - ESA);
proficiency in computer programs, Excel, Word and Google Wrokspace, etc.;
excellent organizational and communication skills;
ability to work under the pressure of constant deadlines;
individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.


In addition, the following will be considered an asset:
National Payroll Institute (NPI) - Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation;
School baord payroll and/or pension experience.


This full-time term assignment will start as soon as the recruitment process is complete and the anticipated end date will be August 30, 2024 with an annual salary of $53,811 (to be pro-rated).
