Role Summary

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager the Project Manager will manage all aspects of their assigned projects and play a key role in planning and coordinating multiple projects at the same time.

Based out of our head office in Charlottetown, this role will take a team approach to managing our projects, working in conjunction with our Superintendent, Estimator and Site Foreman to ensure our contracts are executed efficiently.


What You'll Do

  • Adhere and support all safety requirements and quality standards set forth in the PEI Occupational Health and Safety General Regulations, PEI Occupational Health and Safety Act and Island Coastal's Safety Management System.
  • Use your experience to identify health and safety deficiencies, aid in developing solutions, and enforce safe working practices.
  • Ensure all awarded projects are assigned to meet anticipated schedules, stay within budget, exceeds client satisfaction, and are executed at the highest level of quality.
  • Act as the main contact with our clients and ensure the project goals are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure all bonding and insurance requirements are in place for each project if required.
  • Collaborate with the Estimating Team and Superintendent to approve materials and supplies to be purchased for use on site.
  • Prepare and review shop drawings related to projects in the preconstruction phase of a project.
  • You work closely with the Site Superintendent and guide them during the initial project setup to review all aspects of the project; scope, budget, schedule, list of subtrades awarded contracts and safety principles.
  • Communicate with Superintendents and Estimating Team to create accurate and detailed invoices.
  • Maintain project documentation, control drawings and revisions, control and maintain contract change documentation (CIC's, SI's, RFI's), assist in all QA/QC documentation and records, maintains correspondence with clients and vendors.
  • Meet regularly with Senior Project Manager to discuss project status, schedules, finances, change orders and any issues of interest.
  • Develop strong working relationships with owners and consultants to acquire prompt approvals and payment certificates.
  • Manage and execute the Contemplated Change Order (CCO), Change Order (CO), and Change Directive (CD) process in a timely manner, responding to the time frames requested by the Client Representative and contract specifications. In all cases, follow up until an approved CO is received within the timelines of contract specifications.
  • Ensure all closeout documents are completed and filed with the Consultant/Client as per contract specifications.
  • Work with the Engineering Team to obtain final inspections from all governing parties, prepare deficiency lists, arrange a walkthrough of the project with Client to ensure absolute completion.
  • Foster a positive team environment and support the Senior Project Manager with disciplinary actions and performance goals as required.
  • Always demonstrating strong work ethic and standards while providing support to the execution teams.
  • Assist in problem solving any onsite construction issues that may arise.
  • All other duties as assigned by Senior Project Manager.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in a Project Manager/Coordinator role in the construction field.
  • Engineering Degree, Technologist Diploma or related postsecondary education considered an asset.
  • Ability to interpret civil drawings and tender construction drawings considered an asset.
  • Reliable, dependable, and able to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and previous experience with PM software preferred.
  • Ability to perform financial and mathematical analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid drivers license.

$65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
