Position Summary:
The Stores Purchasing Manager is responsible for complete oversight and management of all aspects of purchasing for the company.
They are to keep informed of current products and suppliers and related new developments, make recommendations on materials, and supplies and may approve vendor selection.
This position will also be responsible to lead and develop the entire Stores department team and will be responsible for recruiting and disciplining employees.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Operations:
- Oversee purchasing activities for the Company
- Manage day to day operations of the purchasing/stores department in YWG/YTH/YRT
- Responsible for vendor analysis and development of new vendors
- Gives direction and delegates tasks to employees and ensures all timelines and deadlines are met
- Provide after hours support for operational needs
- Lead and develop all purchasing/stores employees
- Process requisitions for materials and services and issue purchase orders as required
- Responsible for the schedule in Avanti, approving time, and scheduling of vacation and banked time
- Ensure any incidents are reported through the safety management system
- Promote health and safety and maintain a safe working environment
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Safety and Leadership:
- Change management leader execute change while supporting employees through communication, listening, and actioning
- Ensure any safety incidents are reported through the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Actively support the safety management system by adhering to safe working practices, SMS processes, and encouraging a safety reporting culture in your department
- Promote occupational health and safety within your department, and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training
- Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives with your department
- Embark on employment equity initiatives; engaging with all employees to promote employment equity and encouraging employees to undertake the selfdeclaration survey updating as necessary
Managers, Supervisors and Leads - _have been delegated the authority and are responsible to the Department Head to actively identify hazards and deficiencies and report through the SMS (Safety Management System) Program reporting system. Communicate with all personnel within their respective department and other departments as required to maintain effective day to day activities. Ensure regulatory and company standards are maintained. Assist in the development and maintenance of company processes and procedures. (Quality Assurance activities)_
- Carry out their duties safely within regulatory and company standards, policies, processes, and procedures as trained. Use safety equipment (tools, Proper Protective Equipment etc.) as provided. Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies (when in doubt report). Assist in development of company processes and procedures as required._
Financial:
- Assist with departmental monitoring and analysis of monthly expenditures to assigned GL accounts and explain variances from budget
- Assist with monitoring department staffing levels to ensure within budget and seek approval for replacement/increase
- Adhere to all financial internal controls
- Engage in ongoing cost reduction analysis within your department
- Assist with annual departmental budget
Qualifications & Skills:
- Postsecondary education in related field preferred or a combination of education and experience may be considered
- Excellent computer skills required (MS Office)
- Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
- High degree of accountability
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships
- Must be able to obtain and maintain enhanced security clearance
- Inuktitut language considered an asset
- Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries

Salary:
$80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
- WINNIPEG, MB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
