Job overview

The Landscape Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks (generally physical labor) in order to assist with the completion of landscape construction projects.

The landscape laborer will be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks.

JPL Earthworks is growing, with minimum annual growth of 15%.

We're always investing in our staff and new equipment, are based in Edmonton and have daily opportunities to create and enrich beautiful outdoor spaces.

Specific responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of jobsites prior to the beginning of a project
• Operate various tools and equipment, including chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
• Assist in the construction of walkways, fences, decks, posts, etc.
• Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis
• Dig ditches or trenches
• Perform land clearing activities
• Plant and maintain garden beds and lawns
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects
• Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, and hand lifting/carrying
• Assist foreman with jobrelated tasks
• Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to perform work activities
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times

Requirements:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
• Minimum one year experience in the landscape/construction industry preferred
• Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Time management skills
• Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
• Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time & carry out strenuous physical tasks, ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
• Able to get to transport to work sites
• Able to lift 100 lbs. without assistance, ability to work in a fastpaced environment
• Requires good manual dexterity and excellent stamina is required
