Manual Machinst for the

Langley manufacturing team. This position will report to the

Machine Shop Foreman.

What you will do:
Read and understand blueprints, study specifications, drawings to determine the required machining operations

Reads and interprets work orders, set programs and operates CNC lathes and mills
Calculate dimensions and tolerances, and prepare working sketches if necessary
Ensures workmanship throughout the manufacturing process and on finished goods meets or exceeds the costs, quality and schedule expectations for all customers
Check parts for defects, maintains and repairs equipment as required
Safety conscious with full participation in the safety program and all safety requirements
Other duties as required

Your qualifications:
5+ years related experience in the machining industry

Red Seal Machinist Certification or equivalent certification would be an asset
Be proficient in the use of all tools common to the fabrication shop environment

What you bring to the position:
Strong skills and ability to demonstrate use of Mastercam (or other similar program) is an asset

Indepth knowledge of all tools and equipment, their use and care
Advanced knowledge of general safety practices
Communication skills to read, write, listen, and speak in a clear & concise manner to individuals at various levels
Interpersonal skills work collaboratively and cooperatively with others
The ability to use your hands skillfully and quickly, measure sizes and distances accurately
The ability to work independently at tasks that require concentration as well as physical effort
Basic computer knowledge
Time management skills to productively complete work in a logical manner and to meet all deadlines
Organizational skills to plan out and coordinate his or her work in a logical manner
Physically fit to lift items weighing up to 50lbs.
