SUMMARY
Excite Lethbridge is a non-profit organization focused on event development and attraction, bringing local, provincial and national communities together in the heart of southern Alberta. Anchored out of the 268,000 sq. ft. Lethbridge Trade & Convention Centre, Excite Lethbridge enhances event development for the community and works to expand trade and convention opportunities, bringing more events and visitors to the region.
Excite Lethbridge also produces the events the community knows and loves, including Whoop-Up Days, Ag Expo, the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo, Lethbridge Farmers' Market and more, while also partnering with the Lethbridge & District Agricultural Society to support agriculture events and programming in the region.

We are seeking an Accounting Technician who is enthusiastic about contributing to the financial processes that support our services. This role reports to the Finance Manager and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, mission driven environment where your attention to detail, accountability, and commitment to continuous improvement directly support operational excellence.
KEY WORK ACTIVITIES
The Role:
As our ideal candidate, you will support a range of accounting functions within a collaborative, multi-functional environment. Your responsibilities will include preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, processing purchase orders and invoices, and assisting with financial reporting. With a strong focus on accuracy, service, and policy compliance, you will play an essential role in maintaining the integrity of the Excite Lethbridge's financial operations and supporting day-to-day finance departmental needs.
- Creating and receiving purchase orders, processing vendor invoices and verifying vendor statements
- Creating and issuing invoices to external customers and recording customer payments including preparation of bank deposits
- Preparing and reconciling cash floats
- Processing honorarium, prizes and busker payments
- Recording monthly procurement card transactions
- Reviewing employee expense claims and ensuring compliance with financial policies
- Providing day-to-day financial support and assisting with queries
- Support month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations and working paper support
- Creating journal entries to reconcile and balance accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Supporting other accounting tasks as required to ensure smooth operations
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Some extended or flexible hours may be required during Signature events
- Standard office environment for most of the time.
- Ability to be physically mobile for extended periods during events, including walking, standing, and lifting boxes weighing up to 20 lbs, is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary coursework or education in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
- Supplemented by relevant experience in accounting or financial support roles
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills and solid knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, internal and external stakeholders
- A demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service
- Proven ability to exercise tact, discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy in handling sensitive information
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet overlapping deadlines
- Effective problem-solving and sound decision-making abilities
- Self-motivation, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience in financial systems, point of sale systems and procurement modules
- Experience with JD Edwards, Tempest, Square, and/or related systems is preferred
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and processes is considered an asset
- Responsible, comfort with tight deadlines and high-volume periods
Other: Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.
