Position Summary

The Custodian works with the Lead Hand/Head Custodian and other Custodial staff in the care and operation of the physical plant facilities.

They are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of school buildings and equipment; ensuring compliance with Board, local and provincial government operational and health and safety standards.

Duties may include but not limited to; reporting malfunctions of heating and ventilating equipment to the Head Custodian and appropriate supervisor personnel, removing debris and dangerous articles from the school; including the outdoor areas; removing snow from entrances and walkways and applying salt/sand, cuts grass and maintains gardens as well as general cleaning responsibilities.

Skills And Qualifications

Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
Previous cleaning and/or custodial experience
Good interpersonal skills in dealing with a variety of staff and students.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to prioritize the completion of custodial activities in assigned areas within the school.
Full flexibility is required to come in early or assist on day shifts
Must be compliant with Board policies and procedures as well as Health and Safety guidelines
