Duties and Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the Jira Administrator will support the operational design, performance, and integrity of ITS supported Atlassian products with a primary responsibility on Jira and Jira Service Management.


In addition, the incumbent will need to be familiar with integrating Jira Software with Atlassian Confluence Cloud and Bitbucket Code Management solutions.


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills and highly developed ability to think logically through complex procedural and systems processes.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills; communication, presentation, and consultation skills are required.
  • Excellent client service and conflict resolution skills to establish effective liaison and rapport with University staff at all levels; high level of tact and diplomacy; highly motivated selfstarter with proven ability to work without supervision are all essential to the position.

Technical skills required include:


  • Experience with Atlassian tool administration knowledge on JIRA, Bitbucket, and Confluence, required.
  • Ability to write custom JQL (Jira Query Language), a plus.
  • Ability to construct custom dashboards using various filter types in JIRA, a plus.
  • Experience in performing Atlassian installations, migrations, and plugin installation, preferred.
  • Ability to construct Confluence pages and integrate JIRA projects with Confluence pages and Bitbucket projects, preferred.
  • Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL Database administration skills are preferred.
  • LDAP integration experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with software installation and server administration in a Windows environment.
  • Experience creating Workflows, Schemes, Projects, Custom Fields and Filters.
  • Strong understanding of Group and User Management.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and provisioning Group and Users in AD.
  • Experience creating JIRA templates, custom issues and workflows, custom forms and attributes.
  • Experience in building dashboards and reports.
  • Jira design and develop customizations and plugins.

Requirement to continually research and explore new and best practices in the Jira Community and learn as the product is always evolving.

Familiarity with Bitbucket, Project and Repository creation and administration and Confluence, Team Spaces Administration are an asset;

  • Process workflow system experience is an asset; experience with the design and implementation of custom developed systems is an asset.

Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Honours degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Three years of handson experience working with the Atlassian product suite, with specific focus on JIRA and Jira Service Management
