Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Specialist

_Where the Chemistry Happens _


We are seeking a professional like you to implement and monitor company environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and the EHS training program to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, environmental, health, safety regulations, and BASF requirements.


_Formula for Success:
You Will _


  • Develop and implement EHS programs. An OHS certificate would be recommended, as well as a safety designation such as National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), or Canadian Registered Safety Professional CRSP.
  • Establish systems to ensure requirements are met and to verify compliance. You will also ensure compliance with Responsible Care Management System requirements for your area of responsibility.
  • Participate in the EHS community and update and advise management. You will also participate in strategy development.
  • Be responsible for training, Safe work Permit auditing, recordkeeping, documentation, and maintaining management systems.
  • Develop, arrange, and conduct compliant site training programs based on regulatory and BASF requirements.
  • Be involved in risk assessment activities such as capital project reviews, management of change, industrial hygiene exposure assessment, HIRA(Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment).
  • Support KPI tracking, maintain EHS records/databases, and prepare internal and external reports.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and response efforts.
  • Support the site safety culture development.
  • Construction safety support during capital projects as well as regular routine construction and contractor activities will be required.

Qualifications

_Ingredients for Success:
What We Look for in You _

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, science, or other technical field of study, preferred. High school diploma/GED, required. OHS Certificate from a University or Technical School, preferred. National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certified, preferred. Canadian Registered Safety professional (CRSP), preferred.

  • 5+ years experience in safety training, developing, and delivering training, required 5+ years experience in operations or research setting, preferred. 3+ years experience in industrial construction, preferred. Minimum of 10 years' experience in EHS, preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment while accomplishing individual tasks. Advanced level of understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations and technology. Understanding of Safety management systems, and implementation of new programs. Ability to explain technically complex facts in a nontechnical manner. Strong negotiating and persuading skills.
