    The Basics

    • This is a full-time position based in our downtown Toronto office.
    • In-office work will be required at least 2 days per week, with some variation based on project needs.
    • Work hours are flexible, but meetings are typically scheduled between 9 am and 6 pm Eastern Standard Time.

    In this role, we'll expect you to:

    • Collaborate closely with simulation engineers, providing necessary input conditions for FEA and other simulations, and interpreting results to guide and optimize medical device design.
    • Utilize SolidWorks to design and refine medical devices, ensuring compatibility with high-volume manufacturing processes like injection molding and stamping, while meeting functional and manufacturability requirements.
    • Engage actively with hardware engineers and physicists, incorporating their feedback and understanding design trade-offs to develop efficient and effective medical device solutions.
    • Generate comprehensive technical drawings and specifications for medical device components and assemblies, ensuring adherence to industry standards and suitability for specific application requirements.
    • Document design processes and decisions, maintaining records of analysis and testing outcomes.
    • Communicate progress and technical challenges to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    You might be right for this role if you have:

    • Advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Proficiency in using Solidworks to create complex designs and assemblies tailored for high-volume manufacturing processes.
    • Strong skills in metrology, including the ability to accurately measure and validate parts to ensure they meet stringent design specifications and quality standards.
    • Experience in effective vendor collaboration; communicating design requirements, overseeing manufacturing processes, and ensuring quality compliance.
    • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
    • Ability to effectively interpret and communicate complex data and results to colleagues with varying levels of technical understanding.
    • Ability to prioritize and make progress on multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining focus on project goals in an iterative work environment.
    • Have experience working within a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.

    • At least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
