Position Summary:
The Manager, Occupational Health Services is responsible for promoting employee health, wellness and safety to enable employees to attend to work.
In collaboration with leaders and professional peers, the incumbent has a key role in disability management, infection control, environmental safety and health, workplace hazards detection and development of workplace health strategies.
The Manager, Occupational Health Services is accountable for the Occupational Health Services team, and for the quality and delivery of Occupational Health Services.
Qualifications:
Education/Registration:
- Nursing Diploma is required
A current active practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) is required

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is an asset

Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) certification in Occupational Health Nursing is an asset

WRHA Health Services Management Certificate is an asset
Experience:
- Five years nursing experience is required, three of which were spent preferably in occupational health, or injury prevention setting
Disability/case management experience required

Experience supporting and participating in research related to occupational health
-
Critical Incident Stress Management debriefing training/experience is an asset
-
Experience in Human Resources Management
-
Experience in project management, program planning, development and evaluation

Financial and budgeting experience
-
Solid understanding of required immunizations in particular within the Healthcare Sector

Pandemic Planning experience is an asset
-
Strong understanding of safety/health legislation

Demonstrated ability for proactive approaches to injury reduction
- Experience advocating for health promotion
Personal:
- Ability to effectively deal with all levels of staff in a supportive, positive manner
- Demonstrated integrity, ethical conduct, reliability and initiative.
- Ability to collaborate with all levels of management and Human Resource Services staff and provide sound advice and recommendations
- Previous experience in a formal supervisory or leadership role required (i.e. including the responsibility to lead selection processes, train and direct staff, provide feedback, lead performance change, etc.)
- Demonstrated analytical, conflict resolution and problem solving skills
- Ability to support interests of the employee and the manager to provide clientfocused care and services
- Promotes and observes confidentiality practices as related to employee personal health information
- Ability to prioritize workload, recognizes limitations of own abilities and seeks direction and consultation as necessary
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Computer competency

Clinical Care Management:
The Manager engages in activities that promote a positive, safe and healthy work environment and provides quality professional services by:
- Leading the performance and wellbeing of the RTW/Case Management Specialist, the Occupational Health Services Nurses, and the Occupational Health Administrative Assistant.
- Leading the daytoday operations of all Occupational Health functions including the Immunization and Tuberculin Testing Program and Case Management Program.
- Providing case management support/coverage.
- Acting as a resource for managers and employees in attendance management program relative to injury and illness management.
- When required, conducting employee injury scene investigations in collaboration with Program Managers, Safety and Risk Management.
- Collaborating with Risk Management regarding organizational health and safety programs.
- Providing clinical guidance to managers related to staff health and wellness.
- Supporting reviews of new hire requirements/practices that are consistent in health industry.
- Following up on employee communicable disease exposures (Blood and Body Fluid exposures).
- Participating in monthly Regional Occupational Health Nurse meetings and shares updates with the organization as needed.
