The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications:

Grade 12 graduate or equivalent of required
Successful completion of a Post Secondary Program preferred
Basic Food Safety certification required

Skill, Ability and Experience:

Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
Ability to meet the physical demands of this job required
Minimum one year recent experience in food service in a hospital, long term care facility or institution preferred

Principal Duties:

Work in assigned position: portioning of patient meal items, capturing Food and Beverage Preferences from the patients, preparing patient trays, delivery of meal trays to patient and ware washing
Ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed
Ensure food safety processes are followed as outlined in procedure manual: ie: temperature checks, expiry dates, retherming time and temperatures, monitoring leftovers
Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
Other related duties as assigned
