William Osler Health System (Osler), Human Resources Department is seeking Post-Secondary students for a summer placement to support a variety of organizational improvement initiatives.

These priority initiatives are key in advancing Osler's vision, "Patient-Inspired Care without Boundaries" by supporting the people of Osler to do and be their best.

Successful applicants will be provided with a variety of opportunities to practice and enhance key skills in understanding and advancing organizational improvements focused on people and culture.


Accountabilities:

  • Ability to assist in day to day administrative activities including assisting a team of professionals, preparing employee files, filing, answering the phone, preparing and formatting correspondences, etc.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement in handling confidential information and has sound judgment, integrity, and objectivity
  • Support a variety of key Human Resource initiatives and projects including compensation and policy benchmarking, job description/job evaluation review, and HR metrics
  • Required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required)
  • Knowledge of current labour and employment legislation
  • Exercises caution and discretion with labour relations information
  • Assist in the preparation, research and processing of documents of a confidential labour relations nature
  • Superior analytical, organizational, decisionmaking and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to collect, input, maintain and assist in compiling data of a confidential nature
  • Assist in analyzing, organizing and presenting data. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Respond to requests and provides information or directs inquiries to appropriate staff
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff including colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage inventory and ensure Healthy Workplace Hub rooms are appropriately stocked
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to deliver a positive customer experience in Healthy Workplace Hub rooms
  • Ability to work at multiple Osler sites and travel during shifts when required
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record
  • Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimum supervision

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary education enrollment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills are required
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication (written, verbal and English comprehension) skills
  • Sound organizational skills with demonstrated ability to problemsolve and to handle multiple priorities in a fastpaced work environment
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement in handling confidential information and has sound judgment, integrity, and objectivity
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record

Additional Information

Program eligibility requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled at a postsecondary institution
  • Must be returning to studies in Fall 202
  • Fulltime, parttime and mature students are eligible to apply
  • Availability from early May to end of August 2024
