    Wellness Navigator Supervisor

    Position : Full-Time Temporary Wellness Navigator Supervisor

    Location : Educational Service Centre - Edson, AB

    Term Date : August 1, 2024 until July 31, 2025, or upon the return of the incumbent, whichever happens sooner .

    Hours of Work : 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours per week) Monday-Friday

    The competition will remain open until: May 17, 2024

    The Grande Yellowhead Public School Division is looking for a Temporary Wellness Navigator Supervisor . This position is part of a term pilot project with Alberta Education that will conclude July 31, 2025. The Supervisor oversees 5 Wellness Navigators in the following locations: Evansburg, Edson, Hinton, Jasper, and Grande Cache Alberta (one wellness navigator for each high school in GYPSD). This team works to improve mental health supports and foster mental health wellbeing for all high school students in the Division. The Wellness Navigator Supervisor leads the Division's pilot project (Mental Health in Schools) with the goal of empowering student voice and strengthening student self-efficacy.

    Role and Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the areas of student mental health and wellness. The responsibilities include:

    Leading the Wellness Navigators who work in partnership with BEST Coaches to develop resources, relationship building, and mentoring the growth/strength of student efficacy (as it relates to mental health).

    Assure that the Wellness Navigators are in every high school - mentoring students and guiding them through the completion of high school CEUs for student designed presentations/learning opportunities/events.

    Provide leadership in the area of mental health programming within classes and at a universal level.

    Work collaboratively with the BEST Coach Manager, together will be responsible for guiding the Mental Health in Schools Pilot through to July 2025.

    Lead grant strategy development as it pertains to this wellness project and assure that it is being implemented at all high school locations.

    Provide regular updates, guidance, and regulatory expertise as per the pilot grant and meet all scheduled, budgetary milestones for grant reporting.

    Requirements

    The successful candidate will:

    Have the ability to build positive relationships and is experienced in trauma informed practices

    Have experience in leading interventions (universal, targeted and/or individualized mental health/indicators of mental health assessments, development of social-emotional competencies, mental health literacy, etc.)

    Leads training and resources development to the school community.

    Have experience leading relationships with community support agencies, care providers and school staff who provide support to students; this includes processes for coordination and collaboration between schools and their communities.

    Have experience with grant writing and administration.

    A related post-secondary degree or diploma in social sciences is preferred, or relevant courses and experience

    Monthly salary range $5, $6,700.00
