Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Preparer to join our financial services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate tax returns for individual and business clients, ensuring compliance with current tax laws and regulations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where analytical skills and proficiency with accounting software are essential. The Tax Preparer will play a vital role in supporting our clients' financial health through precise tax planning and preparation.
Duties
- Prepare federal, ontario, and local tax returns for individuals, small businesses, and corporations using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Profile, Excel, and other bookkeeping tools.
- Analyze financial documents and data to ensure accuracy and completeness in tax filings.
- Conduct audits of financial statements to identify discrepancies or potential issues.
- Reconcile accounts and review account balances to ensure consistency across financial records.
- Assist clients with tax planning strategies to optimize their financial outcomes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Support clients with bookkeeping tasks including accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, and investment analysis when needed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely submission of all tax documents and reports.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tax preparation, accounting, or related financial services roles.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks,Profile, Excel and other bookkeeping tools.
- Strong analysis skills with attention to detail for accurate data review and reporting.
- Knowledge of auditing procedures and account reconciliation processes.
- Familiarity with payroll processing, accounts payable management, budgeting, and investment analysis is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client files efficiently.
- Certification or background in accounting or finance is preferred but not required.
