Job brief
The Cook and Food Handler is responsible for preparing high volumes of different food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards for a variety of customers including airline, retail chains and food services.
Responsibilities_
- Assist team in kitchen to accomplish tasks in an efficient and organized manner.
- Prepares highquality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules.
- Ensure traceability and food safety by tracking lot codes and temperatures. Responsible for records from items and area worked during shifts.
- Practice proper labeling and ensuring product is being used FIFO.
- Cleans kitchen after preparation, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
- Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.
- Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
- Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required.
- Assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required.
- Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to supervisor immediately.
- Attends inservice and safety meetings.
- Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
- Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Terms_
- Job Type: Permanent Fulltime
- Work Location: 7050 Telford Way, Mississauga, ON L5S 1V
- Shift Requirement: Must be flexible to work mornings and afternoons, including weekends.
- Compensation: TBD
- Benefits: Group Benefits entitlement upon completion of probation time
Qualifications:_
- Strong Culinary Background
- Understanding of largescale production and assembly
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment
- Ability to lift to 70 lb
- Understanding of HACCP and basic food safety standards
- Clear understanding of Hospitality and Service and the Customer Experience
- Diverse/multicultural Interpersonal Skills
- Process Oriented and Results Driven
- Current in the latest food production techniques
- Ability to work in temperaturecontrolled environment
- Fluent English (written & verbal)
- 2 years of experience in High Volume Food Production environment preferred
- Ability to take part in 80% of physical work
- Ability to work weekend
- Ability to work long hours overall
