We are looking for a Capital Controller to join our growing hospitality company

This position is based out of our Calgary Head Office but can also be worked remotely from Toronto, Ontario.

As the Capital Controller, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects related to capital expenditures across the organization.

You will work closely with the construction team, finance department and other stakeholders to ensure effective tracking, control and reporting of capital projects and expenditures.

Your role will contribute to the successful execution of capital projects.

Key Focuses

Financial Planning and Budgeting.

Collaborate with the construction team to develop comprehensive capital budgets and financial plans for upcoming projects.
Regularly review and update these budgets to reflect any changes in project scope or financial conditions.

Capital Expenditure Tracking and Reporting.

Assist in the development of a robust capital project system to monitor capital expenditures throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of all capital expenditures.

Cash Flow Management.

Coordinate with the construction team and finance department to manage cash flows related to capital projects.

Compliance and Audit.

Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all capitalrelated activities.

Team Collaboration and Communication.

Work closely with crossfunctional teams, including project management and finance, to ensure effective coordination and communication throughout the capital project lifecycle.

Experience/Passions/Education

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CMA, CPA) is a plus.
Strong understanding of capital expenditure management and financial reporting.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, perform financial analysis, and provide meaningful recommendations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of real estate construction and familiarity with hotelspecific capital projects is a plus.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Working Conditions
This position may work long days and/or weekends to meet periodic upturns in business demands or meet deadlines.

This detailed-oriented and analytical position is set in a fast-paced environment, with high levels of interaction with employees and other stakeholders.
