We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a
Finance Business Partner (FBP) reporting to the Manager, Financial Partnering & Analysis (FP&A).

The Finance Business Partner will work to support YVR in driving better business and financial performance. This is a strategic role, that requires a strong blend of financial expertise, business acumen, and communication skills.

This role will work closely with key stakeholders and assigned Line of Business (LOB)/ Major Cost Centre to:


  • Understand the drivers for business performance and related key performance indicators,
  • Assist in setting financial and business performance goals; and
  • Support decisionmaking through the review of assumptions, building business cases, understanding outcomes to be achieved, and ensuring alignment with Vancouver Airport Authority's (YVR) Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities include:


Partnering to drive business & financial outcomes:

  • Develop strategic relationship with business leaders in order to provide deep insights into financial data that influence strategic decision-making and overall company performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze relevant data (i.e. root cause analysis), interpret the findings, and present key financial insights to business leaders.
  • Driver better outcomes by supporting business decisionmaking through the review of assumptions, financial modelling, challenging the status quo, understanding outcomes to be achieved, and ensuring alignment with strategy.

Reporting, planning, and analysis:

  • Lead the budget and forecasting processes for assigned LOBs this includes proactively signalling risks or issues impacting financial results before the risk materializes.
  • Work with business leaders and understand revenue and operational contracts to develop key factors and assumptions for reporting and budgeting (i.e., contractual rate changes, run vs. develop the business operating costs, concession lease agreement changes).
  • Monitor and support LOBs in variance analysis of actuals to budget, business plan, forecast, strategic plans, and/or projectrelated initiatives such as profitability studies, cost modelling, sensitivity analysis, etc.

Key qualifications include:


  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in business partnering, financial modeling, analytics, problem solving, and effective communication, supplemented by a postsecondary degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field, and a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Chartered Financial Analysis (CFA) designation and / or an MBA would be an asset
  • Passionate about datadriven discussions, giving finance a narrative, and finding ways to bring the "aha" moments and deep level of insights that influence big decisions.
  • Expert Excel & PowerPoint skills; financial modelling superpower experience in Power BI or similar dashboard visualization tool is also preferred.
  • Extensive experience with budgeting, forecasting, revenue trending, cost controlling, reporting and analysis, including "whatif" analysis and scenario modelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and model financial transactions as well as translate results into effective reporting to stakeholders.
