Our Teachers bring to life Young Engineer's curriculum with rising K - 8th graders, teaching a different theme each week.

At Young Engineers, we believe in engaging our students' education processes while developing their learning skills.

We understand that every child has a different technique for learning and retaining information; yet, we have found out that making learning fun is the lowest common denominator for a successful education.

We have meticulously generated hands-on curricula, which combine education and entertainment, creating our unique "edutainment" method.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach the curriculum as written, and adapting it as needed to improve the student's experience and capturing feedback to share with curriculum developers
  • Create a positive and safe environment in which all students have fun
  • Manage daily camp/class activities, including checkin and checkout, snack & breaks
  • Establish and implement, in a positive and supportive manner, classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior and conduct; provides guidance, counseling, and discipline to encourage students to meet standards of achievement and conduct
  • Professionally engages with parents/guardians to provide pertinent class information and share about their student's experience
  • Assign tasks to and supervise Teacher's assistant

REQUIREMENTS

  • Genuine love and interest in working with children and/or education
  • Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic and enthusiasm each day and have reliable attendance
  • Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team, with an openness to feedback
  • Strong communication, and organization skills
  • A great communicator with families and guardians
  • Ability to manage student behavior; use good judgment to maintain a safe learning environment; provide instruction and demonstrate techniques; use necessary equipment, computers, machinery, tools, direct assistants; administer first aid when required
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID19 by start of class to ensure staff and students are as safe and healthy as possible and to comply with enhanced health and safety protocols
  • If over 20, provide a Security Background Check upon successful hiring.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • 12 years of experience teaching kids is preferred. Experience working with kids in a camp/class setting a plus
  • Demonstrated experience planning and implementing group activities
  • Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.

WORK HOURS AND DATES
Regular class days run Monday through Friday from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.

Saturday & Sunday 10:00am to 6:30 pm


STAFF HOURS:


  • 3:00pm6:30pm, Monday through Friday
  • 10:00pm6:30pm, Saturday & Sunday with 60min break for lunch
  • Staff meetings: During regular work hours before or after the start of camp
hours of in-person/online training before camp starts and as needed during the camp season

  • Camp cleanup: Participate in cleaning and packing up camp for an additional 12 hours in the last week of camp, typically some additional hours at the end of the day.

COMPENSATION

  • Staff will be compensated $15.65 per hour including training
  • Staff positions are nonbenefited positions
