Position Summary


The Receptionist is responsible for a wide variety of clerical duties in support of Seabird Island which Includes communicating school related activities, greeting and screening students and parents, answering and transferring telephone calls organizing digital and paper filing systems.

You will often be the first point of contact for potential students, parents, and staff, you contribute to a role in general office appearance, organization, and professional impression.

What you'll do

General Reception

  • As a frontline worker, present a positive and professional image of the organization to all visitors, suppliers, inquiries,
and other interactions.

  • Refer all inquiries to the appropriate individuals, divisions, or departments across the organization.
  • Type forms, letters, reports, and memos as necessary.
  • Receive various forms of paper correspondence.
  • Where necessary, assist in compiling data for various reports.
  • Provide information to staff and/or clients about special activities.
  • Ensure that the appropriate evacuation procedures are carried out in the event of an emergency.
  • Observe and report any security issues to supervisor.
  • Administer and manage outbound couriers, including priority post, packages, and other correspondence.
  • Maintain the reception in a tidy and presentable manner.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Executive Director or Chief &
Council.


What you bring

Education
High school diploma or GED is required.
Skills/Experience

  • 2 years of direct work experience in a receptionist capacity.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Able to write simple correspondence, including memos, letters, etc.
  • Ability to be a positive role model for staff and students and inspire high academic achievement.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of personality types and students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a demonstrated ability to work in demanding environments serving the public.

Requirements:


  • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.)
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to agree as well as adhere to Seabird Island Band Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Information Technology (IT) Policies and Procedures, etc.
  • Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó: lō culture, traditions and language or willingness to learn.
  • Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset.
  • Valid BC Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract within the last 5 years.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
