Description

Working as part of the Planning and Materials Team, the
Production Planner is responsible for ensuring that production jobs are delivered on time to customers, while meeting high quality standards.

They are the interface between production, logistics, the Master Scheduler, and the program manager.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Scheduling the release of production jobs and tracking their progress through internal and external work centers, while using the MRP System and the available scheduling tools
  • Monitoring that production targets are met daily to ensure the ontime delivery of products
  • Review and analyze capacity requirements per the production plan and manage possible bottleneck work centers through flow monitoring
  • Using Kaizen and Lean principles, ensure that production parts move in the most efficient way
  • Creating and maintaining detailed schedules for machining, blending, assembly and inspection work centers
  • Establish priority lists and resolve conflicts in priorities
  • Discuss capacity issues with production (levelling, overtime,) and Master Scheduling
  • Monitoring key metrics to ensure manufacturing performance, which includes but is not limited to the maintenance of accurate inventory counts and the timely closure of work orders
  • Prepare for, and participate in, daily planning/production meetings and weekly execution reviews
  • Resolving daily problems, through analysis and troubleshooting of issues associated with the key metrics
  • Define and followup action plans to improve leadtimes and bottlenecks
  • Liaising with customers on product deliveries and day to day project matters
  • Preparing logistics documentation, including Packing Slips and Customs documentation
  • Participating and supporting Lean activities and initiatives

Experience and Education:


  • Certificate or Diploma in Operations or Inventory Management, or similar field
  • 5 years of previous, related experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of an ERP/MRP system is preferred
  • Courses or designation in APICS considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen and Kanban principles is considered an asset
  • Ability to use MS Office Applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate information
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Able to creatively problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Strong organization skills and pays close attention to detail
  • Proactive, teamplayer in a fastpaced manufacturing environment
  • Good written and spoken English
