Job Summary:
Digital Communications Officer (L06)
The Digital Communications Officer works as part of a team responsible for the management and ongoing development of the CSIS websites (intranet and ).
This person is responsible for:
- Administering and posting files on CSIS websites and assisting in writing and editing content when needed.
- Consulting with clients and colleagues, obtaining and providing information, discussing and confirming requirements, and providing support in the delivery of digital communications services.
- Researching and analyzing trends and emerging issues in the digital communications environments, and report on findings.
- Providing support in the planning, coordination, and management of regular updates of information on CSIS websites.
Digital Communications Advisor (L07)
The Digital Communications Advisor works as part of a team responsible for the management and ongoing development of CSIS websites (intranet and ).
This person is responsible for:
- Creating (HTML, CSS, Javascript), designing and maintaining all aspects / functions of CSIS websites to ensure they meet communications objectives and standards.
- Researching and advising on web technology and digital publishing, upgrades, purchases and other webrelated tools.
- Running web analytic tools to analyze website performance and make recommendations based on findings.
- Ensuring compliance of the intranet and with Government of Canada's Policy on Communications and Federal Identity, Treasury Board Web Standards, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Directive on Official Languages for Communications and Services, Policy on Management of Information Technology and CSIS standards.
- Collaborating with colleagues on committees / working groups / meetings by advising on web issues and by evaluating and commenting on proposals.
- Acting as client contact and interface regarding CSIS websites.
- Creating links between CSIS and other government and security related sites.
Education:
Education Digital Communications Officer (L06)
- College or postsecondary diploma and one (1) year of experience*.
- Secondary school diploma and two (2) years of experience*.
- College or postsecondary diploma and two (2) years of experience**.
- Secondary school diploma and four (4) years of experience**.
Notes*:
- The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
- If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense through a recognized credential assessment service.
- Any higher level of education could be recognized as experience
Experience:
Experience Digital Communications Officer (L06)
- Coding HTML webpages in a Content Management System.
- Coordinating and assisting with content development for webpages, intranet sites, SharePoint sites and others including Drupal.
Experience Digital Communications Advisor (L07)
- Managing web projects for a large organization.
- Coding, migrating or designing web content.
- Experience in developing webpages using either ASP, XHTML 1.0 Strict, Dreamweaver and CSS or equivalent.
- Using web content management systems, including and not limited to HTML, Drupal and SharePoint.
Assets
Assets Digital Communications Officer (L06)
- Experience in developing webpages using either ASP, XHTML 1.0 Strict, Dreamweaver and CSS or equivalent.
- Experience using analytic programs, such as WebTrends and Google Analytics, to run reports and prepare analysis of data.
- Experience in providing technical support and troubleshooting problems.
Assets Digital Communications Advisor (L07)
- Experience providing advice to managers and clients on the performance of digital communications activities.
- Experience developing and implementing enterprise information architectures, taxonomies and web publishing workflows.
