Position Summary:

The **Donation Staff

  • Level 1** is responsible for performing specific assigned tasks within the donation hall that require no phlebotomy skills.

Position Responsibilities for Donation Staff

  • Level 1**•Maintain thorough knowledge and adhere to all CPR's established policies and standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices, applicable Provincial and Federal regulations.
  • Ensure donor confidentiality.
  • Performing equipment daily calibrations, quality control, maintenance, cleaning, request for repair and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Setup plasmapheresis machines according to SOPs
  • Donor check-in including confirmation of donor identification, document completeness verification, and transcription of comments.
  • Discontinue donor and disposables from plasmapheresis machine according to SOPs
  • Operate plasmapheresis machine and all other necessary equipment as per CPR's SOPs, performing equipment daily calibration checks, quality control, maintenance, cleaning, troubleshooting (with exception of venipuncture site and needle manipulation), request for repair and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Promote donor satisfaction ensuring that donors are safe and comfortable attending to their needs
  • Ensure that all donor's questions are answered timely, accurately and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout the plasmapheresis procedure.
  • Disinfect and/or clean equipment between donors as required.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Properly clean any blood or plasma spills.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, complete inventory requests as needed.
  • Manage tasks to best accommodate donor flow and production levels.
  • Remain professional at all times in a fast paced environment.
  • Report quality issues and procedural deviation to QSM department and management.
  • Address all observations identified by Quality personnel.
  • Perform proper waste management of regular, recyclable and biohazardous waste.
  • Attend all required training sessions, staff meetings, etc.
  • Flexibility to work in other department of the donation center, actively transitioning to areas of need to promote operational efficiencies.
  • Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Be available to work weekends, evenings and some holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience for Donation Staff

  • Level 1**•High school diploma or higher education.
  • Excellent bed-side manner and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Must have legible handwriting.
  • Proficiency with computers and related peripherals
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure and technical manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Job Types:

Salary:
$31,200.00 per year
