Starting Salary Range:
$80,000-$88,000 annually

The key responsibilities of this position include the following:_**- Leading and developing human resource initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.


  • Overseeing the implementation of human resource policies, procedures and practices including providing updates and revisions to ensure the agency in is compliance with all employment standards
  • Providing ongoing evaluation and recommendations needed to maintain and grow the agency culture in accordance with its mission and values.
  • Identifying and evaluating the risks associated with human resource and learning activities and taking appropriate action to mitigate the risks.
  • Recommending and maintaining an organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish agency goals and objectives by creating strategic recruitment and selection plans for the agency including establishing equal opportunity and diversity practices.
  • Encouraging and promoting positive and effective employee relations through communications initiatives, coaching supervisors, providing support to employees and monitoring employee satisfaction.
  • Supporting foundational processes, including the development and maintenance of competencies, employee leadership and performance assessment tools for all levels of the organization.
  • Overseeing the agency's compensation strategy to ensure a fair, equitable and transparent system is in place to meet regulatory compliance and determine competitive salaries.
  • Creating and maintaining strategic plans for agency training, learning and development related to the growing needs of both the agency and the employees.
  • Supervising direct reports by providing regular and appropriate direction, as well as guidance and coaching in relation to the goal achievement and performance.
  • Establishing a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with appropriate legislation and regulation.
  • Overseeing administrative functions at key location(s) and ensuring there is coordination and consistency across all administrative functions in the agency.

  • University degree with significant experience in a related field with a focus in the area(s) of Human Resources, Human Services, Business or combined education and direct experience;
  • 7 or more years of human resource and supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to meet strategic objectives for HR within a nonprofit organization. Proven ability to manage staff, create benefits and compensation plans, recruit and train employees and conduct employee relations using a diverse, equitable and inclusive framework.
  • Excellent knowledge of HR processes including job classification, job description best practices in recruitment and selection, compensation and performance management.
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to nonprofit/voluntary organizations.
  • Excellent public speaking and facilitation skills and a proven ability to motivate and facilitate groups of people and positively influence others.
  • Excellent communication skills (including writing skills) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and make decisions in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to embraces and practice the agencies equity, diversity and inclusion philosophy and integrates this practice into their work and the agency.
  • Skilled and accurate in collecting and tracking data into an electronic system with specific knowledge of HRI systems.
  • Able to work flexible hours including evening and weekend availability. Agency operates with a 37.5 hours per week.
  • A clear Police Information Check and Child and Youth Intervention Record Check no more than 6 months old are conditions of hire.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
