Position Overview


The
Department of Student Success in the
Haskayne School of Business is currently seeking a Full-time Regular
Business Development Specialist, Experiential Learning.

This position reports to the Associate Director, Business Development within Student Services at the Haskayne School of Business. The Student Services team is responsible for services including graduate programs recruitment and admissions, graduate and undergraduate student advising, career and work-integrated learning program development, and co
- and ex-curricular experiential learning.


The mandate of this position is to develop relationships in the community and create experiential learning initiatives for students and faculty at the School.

The primary focus of this role is on co-curricular, community-engaged, and work-integrated experiential learning.

The position is expected to improve knowledge retention and student engagement and help students bridge the gap between theory and professional practice.

The incumbent will work with the Associate Director to build strategy and set future directions for experiential learning at the School.

The incumbent will collaborate and work with members within Student Services, the Haskayne School of Business, as well as staff and faculty across campus and in the community to create and lead multiple experiential learning programming opportunities that are relevant and impactful.


Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Business Development:

  • In collaboration with the Associate Director and in coordination with the Student Services team, develop and implement an experiential learning strategy to increase opportunities for students to participate in high quality experiential learning activities. Ensure that experiential learning opportunities tie to institutional vision.
  • Work with others the Student Services team to implement experiential learning programming including the development and implementation of continuous benchmarking and yearly tracking of the experiential learning strategy across the faculty.
  • Lead generation and follow up. Continuously steward relationships with new and existing partners both across campus and in the community to identify opportunities for collaboration and program enhancement
  • Collaborate with other units in Haskayne to develop and maintain learning partnerships and community relationships
  • Advise on, support, and promote experiential learning within the faculty and to stakeholders.
  • Continuously search for and identify opportunities in the curriculum for partnerships with the community to increase opportunities for students to participate in experiential learning activities
  • Represent the School on university experiential learning committees and working groups.
  • Participate in faculty committees to advise on, design, implement, and track specific types of experiential learning processes and activities across the faculty
  • Demonstrate expertise, creativity, and initiative to support continuous improvement of experiential learning programming across the faculty and encourage positive outcomes.

Program and Project Management:

  • Work with others in Student Services, plan and handle multiple experiential projects both inside and outside the classroom, prioritizing tasks appropriately and setting deadlines.
  • Plan and execute experiential learning initiatives, including events and programming that are evolving and longterm in nature.
  • Remain current in emerging experiential learning theory and practice, such as service learning, workbased learning, action research, and communitybased learning and create a culture of continuous improvement in program offerings.
  • Develop, maintain, and continually evolve a large database of existing community partnerships and continually identify and contact new community partners for the purposes of new and existing experiential learning programming.
  • Research and identify applicable enterprise level software to support scaling up of EL across the faculty and campus, working with other campus faculties and working groups to create consistency in tracking and program measurement across the campus.
  • Collate and synthesize demand for experiential learning projects from community partners
  • Consult with stakeholders to determine programming objectives and take responsibility in planning the scope and format of said programming.
  • Develop KPIs and metrics and coordinate the collection of metrics related to experiential learning to measure increase in opportunities for students to participate in high quality experiential learning activities

Marketing and Communications:

  • Work with Marketing & Communications, develop and update highquality, accurate communication materials (both in print and online) to promote experiential learning opportunities to both students and outside partners.
