- Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
- Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
- Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
- Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
- Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
- Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Report results.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Science Degree would be an asset.
- 1-3 years of laboratory experience
- Basic computer skills with experience with MS office and LIMS.
- Good communication skills and fluency in English both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
- Hand-Eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to lift 20+ pounds on a consistent basis.

Summary:
AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for a Laboratory Technician to join our Inorganics/Environmental working out of our St. John's, NL facility. This position is an entry level position where one can gain career experience in a laboratory with direction from the Laboratory Manager and other Laboratory team members. The successful candidate will assist with administrative and basic laboratory activities.
This is a seasonal, contractual position. The start date for the position is May 1st, 2024 and the end date is November 29th. 2024. Depending on production needs, the contract may be extended.
Schedule:
Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 5:00 pm. It is a full time hours position (40 hours of work per week).

Work Environment: This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
