About the Opportunity


The Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the managing brokers and Sales Advisors on all matters relating to the administration and compliance of the real estate brokerage.

They stay up to date on applicable policies, regulatory changes and laws, and ensure that all contracts meet legal compliance and effective risk mitigation.

In addition, the Compliance Officer is responsible for facilitating training through various channels to Sales Advisors and internal staff.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Complete onboarding for the Sales Advisors, as well as provide ongoing support and guidance to Sales Advisors on internal processes and policies
  • Create and deliver Sales Advisor onboarding assessments and training to ensure Sales Advisors have relevant knowledge on compliance
  • Liaise with Managing Brokers and advise on compliance matters related to complaints
  • Respond to Sales Advisor inquiries and provide daily support and recommendations on contracts to ensure compliance and all legal requirements are met
  • Conduct research pertaining to corporate, regulatory and other relevant laws as required relating to real estate transactions and associated risks, making recommendations to mitigate risk to the organization through developing/updating and implementing departmental policies, manuals and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with FINTRAC regulations including updating the FINTRAC policy manual, reporting, and training
  • Advise and work with other departments in the development, communication and facilitation of training related to regulatory requirements and changes
  • Review and approve listing agreements on MLS
  • Review and approve sale transactions
  • Coordinate Sales Advisor license renewal reminders and mandatory relicensing/PDP courses
  • Analyze trends amongst Sales Advisor questions and transactions to provide recommendations for improvements
  • Maintain industry and job knowledge by participating in educational and developmental activities

Desired Skills/Experience:

years of experience working in a Associate/Managing Broker or compliance officer role

  • Postsecondary degree in a relevant discipline with some emphasis on the administration of law or equivalent combination of training and work experience
  • Superior communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Good organizational and project coordination skills
  • Member/Customer oriented focus
  • Ability to develop product, education content, training aids
  • Ability to work independently and within teams, selfmotivated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Good relationship building, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Familiarity with legal contracts
  • Working knowledge of the real estate industry, having or willing to obtain a real estate, managing broker or associate license would be considered an asset.
