The Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO), Academic Medicine, Medical Service Models, and Compensation, will work to advance AHS' academic medicine strategy, medical compensation strategy and medical service model design across Alberta, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and ongoing excellence in medical practice.

Combining clinical experience and a proven track record in healthcare administration, you will play a key role within AHS leadership while providing direction and representing your portfolio's strategic needs to AHS senior leadership.

You will participate in external compensation forums, provide oversight and implementation of physician compensation models and strategies, and develop updated service models to optimize physician resources in the AHS workplace.

AHS is organized into five geographic Zones.

Description:


The ACMO, Academic Medicine, Medical Service Models, and Compensation is responsible and accountable to create and implement a sustainable, systematic approach to strategic initiatives supporting academic medicine, medical services models and compensation strategy throughout AHS.

In this role, you will work to ensure academic medicine strategy, medical service models and compensation initiatives are incorporated in the provision of clinical services, and achieve measurable improvement in these areas.

This includes spearheading, articulating, and promoting the vision for academic medicine strategy, medical service model design and compensation strategic initiatives within AHS.

You will direct and oversee medical engagement, and collaborate with key stakeholders to support the design, development, and implementation of policies, tools and strategies to support these strategies while ensuring efficient service model delivery and design.

The ACMO will advise stakeholders and steer engagement and consultation of medical staff in development and implementation of portfolio processes and policies.

In addition, the ACMO may be assigned to other responsibilities to support the larger CMO portfolio.

Reporting to the Vice President Quality & Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the ACMO, Academic Medicine, Medical Service Models, ACMO works closely with, and provides expert advice to, senior physician leaders such as Senior Medical Directors and Zone Medical Directors.

As the ACMO, you will develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders such as AHS operational leaders, Universities, Alberta Health, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, the University of Calgary, the University of Alberta, and the Alberta Medical Association.

Required Qualifications:


A minimum of eligibility for medical, dental or podiatric licensure in Alberta, including certification by the College of Family Physicians of Canada, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Royal College of Dentists of Canada or an equivalent professional body.

At least 5 years' leadership experience in health care operations including three years' experience in a senior leadership role in clinical services or healthcare operations.
