We have the perfect position for youTraine Construction and Development (Traine) is currently seeking a highly motivated Apprentice Carpenter to join our Ontario team.
As a key member of our team, you will report directly to the Site Superintendent to learn as wide a range of construction skills as possible by integrating into the teams and assisting wherever possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs tasks involving basic Carpentry and construction knowledge, as well as physical labour at construction projects.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
- Measures, marks and records openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
- Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Erects and dissembles scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
- Provides assistance to craft workers such as carpenters, plasterers and masons.
Qualifications and Experience
- Enrollment in the provincial apprentice program.
- Previous experience as a construction labourer may be required.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR preferred.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner if certified
- Must possess a valid Driver's License.
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and the tools required in various construction processes.
- Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Use of radio.
