Symphony Senior Living Carleton Place is currently seeking a full-time Building Services Coordinator (Maintenance) with a caring heart. We will teach you how to care for seniors with dementia and Alzheimer's. We will teach you our systems, programs and philosophy. However, we cannot teach compassion and empathy, so you will demonstrate those to us in an interview process.

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer or designate, performs routine preventative maintenance and repair procedures on the building, mechanical equipment and utility systems.

Consistent with the SSL Mission, Vision and Values, the Maintenance position contributes to the efficient operation of the Community.


Job Duties

  • Performs minor repair of building and equipment. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers.) Minor repairs including but not limited replacing light bulbs, patch painting walls and doors in common areas as well as resident suites, ensuring lint traps are cleaned and in good repair,
  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment
  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance and completes repairs as required.
  • Procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required
  • Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Performs custodial duties, such as common area cleaning and steam cleaning of carpets and furniture as required.
  • Outside custodial duties include snow removal and salting to ensure that all entrances and exists are clear.
  • Order cleaning supplies and maintenance supplies
  • Creates a community wide environment that protects the confidentiality of the residents, Team Members and activities of Symphony Senior Living
  • Protects their own health and the health of other by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately and attending all relevant inservices regarding occupational health and safety.
  • Follows all guidelines for Team Members and employers as legislated under the Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Maintains and prequalifies contractors in accordance with the SSL Contractor Safety Program
  • Acts as liaison between contractors

Job Qualifications:


  • Completion of High School
  • General knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing procedures
  • General knowledge of heating and ventilation systems as well as appliance maintenance
years prior experience in the retirement, residential care or hotel hospitality setting

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and building specifications
  • Fluent in English
    Must be able to communicate in English (written, verbal, reading)
  • Will be required to lift and carry (up to 23.0 KGS)
  • Walk, sit, push and pull
  • Must be able to continuously move during working hours
  • Varying lumbar and cervical rotation, as well as shoulder reaching
  • Wrist must be capable of moving in all planes
  • Various forms of grip, pinching and finger dexterity required

  • You must be in good physical health as this job requires lifting, sitting, standing and walking.
  • Must be COVID vaccinated
  • Should there be an outbreak, must be able to carry out their duties.

Salary:
$50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
