As such,
LaPrairie Works Inc (LWI) is an ISO certified Highway Maintenance Contractor. We are looking to expand our highway maintenance operations areas and are preparing a response to an RFP announced by the Provincial Government for a highway maintenance contract in the Edmonton region (CMAs 506/509/510).


Under the direction of the Superintendent - Operations, the
Highway Maintenance Foreman, Edmonton Region will oversee staff and the proper allocation of resources to ensure work is being performed according to established standards.

The
Highway Maintenance Foreman, Edmonton Region, must possess a valid Class 1 or 3 driver's license, the ability to understand and implement provincial highway maintenance specifications and with three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the Highway Maintenance, Public Works, and/or Civil Construction industries.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Promote and monitor compliance with required LWI's Corporate and Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures, applicable legislation including National Safety Code, Commercial Hours of Service, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Oversee operations to ensure that work is being performed according to LWI's Work Plan Schedules, Quality Assurance & Control processes, and Contract Specifications.
  • Facilitate employee training, to meet LaPrairie program objectives and legislative requirements
  • Monitor employee performance using practical targets that are consistent with contract priorities and company goals.
  • Coordinate activities effectively by allocating resources, scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly
  • Ensure procedures and reporting for worksite and infrastructure inspections, prepost trip inspections, and preventative and scheduled maintenance of vehicles and equipment are carried out
  • Review and submit road condition reports and update conditions as outlined for specific highways
  • Assess team performance and identify areas for continuous improvement and performance enhancement
  • Implement LWI's HR strategies and policies in a consistent and proactive manner
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role and preferably in the Highway Maintenance, Public Works, and/or Civil Construction industry sectors
  • Valid Class 1 or 3 Drivers License and with clean record
  • Proven experience with project supervision / management
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Good communication skills (written / oral) and able to maintain daily journals and records
  • Ability to delegate, set realistic expectations, and monitor progress of direct reports
  • Functional knowledge of computer technology, and the Microsoft Office suite of software (Word / Excel )
