Shouldice Hospital_ in Thornhill, the leader in hernia repairs, is looking for a permanent full-time Laundry / Housekeeper to assist in the day to day laundry and cleaning of the hospital.

Shouldice Hospital Laundry and Housekeepers are responsible for sustaining a pristine environment in all areas of the hospital and done with integrity.


  • Check all laundry chemicals and PPE to make sure that there is enough for daily use
  • Load and unload washers and dryers
  • Fold all items from dryer in the required fashion
  • Wash flannel sheets separately
  • Deliver carts daily to floor and nurses station
  • Perform cleaning duties throughout the hospital including enhanced cleaning of all high touch areas
  • Regular duties include but not limited to: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, emptying garbage, cleaning washrooms and patient rooms
  • Follow all housekeeping protocols, daily cleaning flow charts, and checklists to ensure the hospital's standard of care are met

Qualifications

  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years sewing experience
  • 5year experience in similar role
  • Ability to lift to 25 pounds
  • Ability to be on your feet for up to 4 hours at a time
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends when required
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Chemicals
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Selfmotivated and a team player
  • Ability to take direction and seek clarification if required

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent

$22.10 per hour
