Opportunity:
MacEwan University is seeking two (2) Access Control Technicians for full-time continuing opportunities with the Facilities department.
The Access Control Technician manages access to all secure areas of the University. They handle the programming, installation, and maintenance of locks throughout the campus. The Access Control Technician plays a key role in the security of restricted and secure areas.
Their work also includes managing the programs that govern the lock systems, managing access credentials among all staff and students, and troubleshooting problems with both modern and legacy programs and equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing and facilitating the changeover to a new lock system.
- Utilizing and configuring the following modern access control software:
- Genetec Config tool, Security Desk and LCT
- Honeywell Station
- Maintaining the 2800 locks on campus.
- Working with the MacEwan Firewall, routing through different cloud links.
- Issuing, revoking, and invalidating access credentials.
- Explaining policy and procedure as it pertains to area access and key distribution.
- Troubleshooting and repairing modern programs and equipment, including IN120 Mortise.
- Troubleshooting integration problems with newly installed locks.
- Running diagnostic checks on systems when errors and problems occur.

SKILLS:
You will have:
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to make decisions and adjust in the moment.
- Experience is computer programs Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows Services:
- Windows Mobile-2003-based device connectivity
- Windows Mobilebased device connectivity
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a diploma in IT or related field.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience with access control systems.
- Experience with the following systems would be considered an asset:
- Modern access control software:
- Genetec config tool, Security Desk, and LCT
- Honeywell Station
- Legacy access control software:
- Persona Campus Offline.
- Key Manager
- Windows Mobile Device Center
- FM System
- FIMS
- Security Center 5.x Synergis technical certification would be considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
