CURRENT OPPORTUNITY


As an
Environmental Technician, the majority of your working time will be spent outdoors at various jobsites throughout the Lower Mainland, with occasional work at more remote locations throughout BC as needed.

When not in the field, you would work primarily from our Burnaby office.

  • Be excited by this opportunity to become highly skilled and efficient in a wide range of fieldbased activities and will enjoy honing their fieldbased skills over a number of years. While this position will include some officebased responsibilities (report writing, budget and proposal preparation, etc.), this opening is not suitable for individuals who wish to transition to a primarily officebased role within the next 12 years.
  • Be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of settings (urban, rural and remote), including in inclement weather.
  • Hold a degree, diploma, or other certification that demonstrates an aptitude for technical skills.
  • Be comfortable using simple hand tools and equipment to collect field measurements.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Have a strong spatial awareness, and an aptitude for creating legible and accurate maps, plans, and diagrams with pencil and paper, including neat handwriting.
  • Be a skilled multitasker and problem solver.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and committed to consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Foxit PDF.
  • Have a reliable vehicle for travelling to and from jobsites, and possess a BC driver's license.
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Collecting and handling soil, sediment, vapour, groundwater, and surface water samples.
  • Conducting environmental monitoring and site inspections.
  • Recording data and observations in an accurate, legible, wellorganized manner.
  • Preparing and coordinating subcontractors and equipment for field programs.
  • Filing and managing field notes, including some data entry.
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and contractors.
  • Preparing technical reports summarizing the results of environmental assessments and monitoring activities, when required.
  • Providing assistance with cost estimates and proposals, when required.
  • Assisting with office and administrative duties and providing support to our data management team.
This position and responsibilities will evolve over time, based on the employee's skills, performance, and career objectives.


PAY, BENEFITS, & HOURS


This will be
permanent full time hourly position (40 hours per week), with
two to three weeks paid annual vacation to start, dependent on skills and experience.

We anticipate a beginning wage of
$26 to $34 per hour dependent on skills and experience.
