Construction Inspector

(full-time permanent position)

What you will do:


  • Onsite construction inspection of long duration and short duration projects ranging from linear infrastructure, water / wastewater facilities, land development, bridges and culverts and road reconstruction.
  • Review of contract documents and specifications.
  • Review of shop drawings, progress payment certificates, change order requests.
  • Attendance at construction site meetings, including preparation of meeting minutes and various correspondence with Contractors/Owners/Approval Agencies.
  • Field work including detailed topographic site surveys, construction layout and field review during construction of the work.
  • Certain assignments may require that you work outside of normal work hours.
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

What you will need:


  • Education in a civil engineering technology program or equivalent experience.
  • Up to 5 years related construction experience.
  • Strong ability to work independently, as part of a crew, and integrate with the design and inspection teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet contractor schedule and project deadlines.
  • Desire to learn in a fastpaced environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Considered Assets:


  • OACETT designation or eligibility.
  • Knowledge of site grading, site servicing and municipal infrastructure construction.
  • Aptitude to work with the following software packages: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of OPSS Specifications, Contract Documents, Construction Act and Municipal/City standards.
  • Experience with consulting services working in a multidisciplinary design environment.
