Three or more years' successful accounting experience within a large organization or corporation;
A completed diploma or degree in finance, accounting, business or related field;
Advanced technological/analytical skills with great attention to detail;
Experience with treating people with respect, kindness, empathy, fairness, and compassion;
Working collaboratively and effectively with a wide variety of teams, groups, and external agencies;
The ability to assess complex and sensitive situations to determine reasonable solutions and decisions;
Working directly with the Treasurer and Director of Financial Services, the Accounting Technician will:
Play a key role in the development and monitoring of the Division budget;
Prepare budgets, financial reports, returns, records, recommendations, policies, and procedures as required by provincial and federal legislation as well as the Board of Education;
Provide support, advice, recommendations, and guidance to the others on matters affecting financial services;
Provide accounting and budget support for leaders and admin support staff in schools and departments;
Provide administration of the accounting and investment of reserve and trust account funds;
Propose policies and implement authorized policies and procedures that will result in effective financial planning, management and control of Financial Services;
Process accounting payable, accounts receivable;
Complete payroll remittances, including reconciliation between payroll data, GL data and Canada Revenue Agency, ASEBP, etc.;
Complete bank reconciliations;
Complete accounting and reporting for various budgets;
Assist administrators and admin support with budget building, forecasting, understanding reports, etc.;
Assist administrators and admin support with understanding of financial communications or issues;
Maintain high accounting standards as well as strong relationships with all employees;
Assist with the workloads of other members of Financial Services, where needed;
Advise and serve in a key resource capacity for the Superintendent and Liaison Superintendents;
Assist with audits and year-end working papers;

Fulfill other duties, consistent with the role of Accounting Technician, as assigned by the Treasurer or Director of Financial Services.
