Position Description:


Advanced Practice Neurodiagnostic Technologist Lead

Neurophysiology Lab

The Division of Neurology:

Neurophysiology Lab at the Hospital for Sick Children is re-designing its technical leadership team with the introduction of a new role: Advanced Practice Neurodiagnostic Technologist Lead.

The neurophysiology lab serves complex patients with a variety of neurological disorders across inpatient, outpatient, critical care, and emergency departments.


The Hospital for Sick Children is a leading tertiary pediatric center providing routine and specialized neurodiagnostic testing and health care to the most complex children and their families.

SickKids provides a dynamic technical, clinical, education and research environment.

It is the center of excellence in the treatment of Epilepsy and other neurological disorders and delivers cutting-edge health care to its pediatric population.

An integral part of the SickKids Neurophysiology Lab involves increasing the team¿s leadership and clinical/technical supervision capacity.

The
_Advanced Practice Neurodiagnostic Technologist (APNT)_ Lead provides clinical and technical supervisory leadership and supports point-of-care staff in the implementation and evaluation of best practices in the diagnostic testing, treatment, and recovery of patients with various neurological disorders.

The APNT will supervise both staff and students, and in this context, will provide technical and clinical care in addition to the supervisory and leadership accountabilities.


The APNT will report to the Director:

Clinical Operations of the Brain and Mental Health Program, the Head of the Neurology, the Director of the Epilepsy Program and will work collaboratively with the Senior Clinical Manager and other members of the leadership team.


Here's What You¿ll Get To Do

  • Provides direct diagnostic and technical care to patients undergoing a variety of neurodiagnostic procedures.
  • Coordinates team supervision processes (e.g., individual, or teambased supervision)
  • Promotes an interprofessional culture of collaboration, academic and student support.
  • Leads and supports neurodiagnostic initiatives inclusive of the design and implementation of new models of testing, necessary staff training, and diagnostic equipment evaluation.
  • Participates in or facilitate quality improvement projects and quality reviews focusing on patient safety, adherence, and fidelity to evidencebased models neurodiagnostic testing.
  • Participates with leadership in strategic program planning and evaluation.
  • Supports adherence to standards of clinical practice and safety through supervision, and participation in other quality procedures.
  • Actively supports a culture of innovation, accountability, clinical standards, and productivity.
  • Supports a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.

Here¿s What You¿ll Need:


  • Member in good standing with the Canadian Association Electro Neurophysiology Technologists (CAET)
  • Minimum of five years Neurophysiology experience at a senior level; with management experience
  • Clinical experience as a certified Canadian Board of Registered Electroencephalograph Technologists (C BRET)
  • Demonstrated commitment to and support of organizational initiatives and values.
  • Experience working in a complex academic health science environment.
  • Experience in clinical supervision of trainees/interprofessional staff
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a dynamic clinical environment where clinical/technical activity and high productivity is required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others, delegate work and negotiate creative solutions.
  • Must have a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and superior patient care.
  • Excellence in organizational and administrative skills to support the coordination of team supervision
