Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


The PGS LCM:

  • Initiates system reviews, and follows design projects through development from concept to implementation, including Statement for Requirements justifications, business case analysis, Engineering Change Requests, Risk and Options Analysis, assists with preliminary and final designs, and preliminary and final costing estimations.
  • Analyzes system performance and directs corrective actions.
  • Reviews maintenance and project requirements, and researches industry for available solutions.
  • Develops a Preventive Maintenance program for new or modified systems and revises existing Preventative Maintenance directives as required.
  • Ensures that system spares are authorized in sufficient quantities and strategically located at remote sites to minimize the duration of outages.
  • Works with the training section of the NWSSC to identify training requirement updates.
  • Periodically travels to NWS sites to perform inspections, design research, and installation acceptance and commissioning.
  • Remotely assists onsite staff during critical Corrective Maintenance actions.

EDUCATION:

The Power Generation Systems Life Cycle Manager requires the completion of a diploma/certificate in a related trade, or a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Design or Engineering.


CERTIFICATE(S) / LICENSE(S): Eligibility for Professional Engineer (Ontario) or a related trade designation is considered an asset, but is not a requirement.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires a minimum of five years related experience in design and support of diesel engines and/or electrical power generation systems.


KNOWLEDGE OF:

Requires thorough knowledge of Power Generation Systems (engines, generators), a working knowledge of the National Building Code (NBC) of Canada, National Fire Code (NFC) of Canada, and Underwriter's Laboratories of Canada (ULC).


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
P. Eng. designation or trade certifications are considered an asset.
