- Reports to the Senior Manager, Solutions Security and Architecture
- Collaborates with the Solutions Security and Architecture team, management, university technology professionals, and various departments within the Chief Information Security Officer portfolio
- Architect security solutions for applications and systems across UBC properties and networks
- Lead cybersecurity projects, conduct Security Threat and Risk Assessments
- Provide expertise on privacy assessments and collaborate on joint assessments
- Research and propose new cybersecurity solutions
- Review and enhance existing cybersecurity solutions
- Document solution architectures and best practices
- Foster a culture of security awareness
- Lead testing of security controls
- Develop technical communication materials and deliver training
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Data Governance teams
- Support recruitment and mentor technical team members
- Contribute to strategic technology planning
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
- Minimum eight years of related experience and managerial experience
- Cybersecurity certifications preferred
- Experience with cloud environments and cybersecurity frameworks
- Strong knowledge of incident, request, and change management
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively at all organizational levels

Job Description
The **Cybersecurity Architect** position offers specialized technical expertise in designing and implementing security solutions based on business needs. This role conducts Security Threat Risk Assessments, develops security standards, and stays updated on security trends. The incumbent serves as the internal solutions architect for the UBC Cybersecurity team and provides project leadership for internal cybersecurity projects. The schedule for this role is fixed, but flexibility is required as some tasks may fall outside regular business hours. Remote work is possible, but on-campus presence is needed weekly.
