This individual will need to develop a large volunteer team and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization to plan, deliver, and evaluate fundraising initiatives and maximize income generation opportunities.

Introduction to the Role

This role intends to build the most talented, active, and healthy volunteer team in Canada, starting from British Columbia's five regions by creating an infrastructure that is enabled by a system-driven and organic stewardship approach, comparable to our Major Gifts Program, that will be led by a provincial Volunteer Coordinator under the direction of the Fund Development strategy, and the Regional Manager.

This hybrid approach will fulfill the capacity of all volunteer-related activities within British Columbia and will work closely with staff and volunteer teams to achieve said goals to excel in the growth, development and prolong the retention of volunteer teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for volunteer recruitment from various diasporas, professions, and walks of life, including outreach/marketing methodologies through events and campaigns. Introduce innovative ways to increase new volunteers signing up to join Islamic Relief teams across British Columbia, especially through the use of regional data.
  • Define a 1/2/3 year volunteer strategy with the Regional Manager and National Volunteer Lead to create KPIs for sustainable volunteer capacity building.
  • Implement a systematic approach for onboarding and retention of new and existing volunteers through facilitation, orientation, and training workshops relative to British Columbia's quarterly activities plan and Manager's guidance.
  • Induct methodology and system for volunteer pulse checks for all five regional teams and onetoones. This can include ways to track the growth of volunteer teams, detect areas of progress/opportunities/weaknesses, and create routine engagement to liaise and continuously engage volunteers personally. Checkins will be planned as scheduled action items.
  • Identify core volunteers and develop a strategy for early talent recognition. Create roadmaps for different possibilities (comparable to Major Gifts) for such volunteers for different journeys, including being leaders for challenges, domestic programs, becoming staff, or becoming an ambassador as defined by the national strategy.
  • Have oversight on volunteer feedback, and external inquiries to activate relevant staff, and facilitate internal requests. Also facilitate any requests to other departments within Islamic Relief, such as content, media, creatives, and data, as requested by British Columbia staff relevant to volunteers.
  • Maintain report keeping through effective data entry and collection to measure the progress of any campaigns, events, and strategies specific to volunteer capacity building.
  • Facilitate volunteer feedback, complaints, ideas, and inquiries along with the Regional Manager and HR department as needed.
  • Be present for fundraising activities that require volunteer presence, and facilitate specific training as needed, after formal onboarding. Keep track of event prerequisites and volunteer hours per event, and volunteer experience postevent/campaign.
  • Create ways for extensive volunteer appreciation through onetoone's, events, and public recognition
  • Develop and maintain a platform for different layers of volunteers; kids, professionals, youth, etc, and create specific engagement strategy and journeys
  • Identify companies with internal volunteer programming and maintain/develop relationships with them.

Goals and Objectives

  • This role will be heavy on tracking the movement, progress, and accomplishments of not only regional teams as a whole but volunteers on an interpersonal level. This entails that adequate data management software is utilized and developed, in conjunction with the national Volunteer Lead, to ensure scheduled touchpoints and goals around them are accomplished
  • In order to differentiate the level of success and attention required for different regional teams and volunteers, terminology is required to define volunteers that might need work, and create solutions. By defining regions and volunteers through key terms, areas to target and challenges to tackle will be made easier for regional staff
  • This job function will help develop memorable, consistent, and smooth volunteer experiences, and will directly play a massive impact on competitive m
