The Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC) is a federally incorporated not-for-profit corporation responsible for managing mutual aid, and information and resource sharing between Canadian wildland fire agencies from coast to coast to coast.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Controller to join our team. Preference will be given to applicants located in the Winnipeg, MB area though hybrid/remote reporting will be considered.


Position Summary


Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Project Controller is responsible for providing project management support, financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, advice, and guidance to support CIFFC's objectives and business decisions.

The Project Controller works closely with the Director of Corporate Services and finance team to support all project efforts, maintain accurate up-to-date financial data, and report on project status.

This position will provide project management support to staff and project leads from all divisions of the organization.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding of the scope of work, objectives, schedules, estimates, and budgets for projects led or facilitated by CIFFC.
  • Maintain regular communication with project leads and the finance team, fostering mutual accountability and a collaborative environment.
  • Analyze, prepare, and present project financial reports and forecasting.
  • Develop and implement project control procedures and best practices to monitor project budgets, costs, and revenue.
  • Evaluate and recommend opportunities for improvements or cost savings.
  • Assist with development of project and financial coding used in 365 Dynamics accounting software.
  • Support budget development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or college with a background in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Project Management, or similar.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) certification is an asset.
  • 3 years relevant experience in project administration.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data to produce clear and concise financial reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with MS Dynamics 365 an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and work well under limited supervision in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with private or sensitive information.

Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 48 months
