This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 18 April 2024 and closing at 11:59 pm on 25 April 2024.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, treating and managing swallowing disorders, communication disorders and language based cognitive disorders, in order to develop, restore, augment and provide alternatives for and/or maintain functional ability.

Works autonomously in close collaboration with professional staff of other disciplines; interprets findings and counsels' patients and/or family on treatment and outcome of treatment.

Prevention activities, research, education and administrative tasks associated with caseload management are also part of the role.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Registration with College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO);
  • Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, problemsolving and case management skills;
  • Minimum 1year experience assessing and treating an adult neurogenic client population preferred;
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work as a team player;
  • Demonstrated interpretive and problem solving skills;
  • Proven excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proven working knowledge of personal computers, utilizing Microsoft Office software;
  • Experience in dysphagia management, including experience conducting and interpreting Modified Barium Studies preferred
  • Programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular inservice education in this area;
  • Must have a satisfactory performance record;

  • Demonstrated understanding of a commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular inservices in this area; and
  • Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.


Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
