About the Position

Reporting to the Accounts Payable and Receivable Manager, The Accounts Payable and Receivable Specialist will assist with the accounting, reporting and day to day operations of Equiton's Income Producing Properties (IPP).

The position is based in an office setting; however, some travel may be necessary along with occasional evening work.
This position is a 14-16 month contract with the possibility of becoming permanent full-time.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processing Properties related invoices in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assist with financial reports, records, and general ledgers
  • Work closely with the property management team to issue monthend accrual reports for open Purchase Orders
  • Assist vendors/suppliers on payment status
  • Prepare weekly A/P reports and be available to assist departments responsible
  • Maintain updated vendor directory (EFT Setup, WSIB/COI expirations, payment terms)
  • Process daily deposits and update the tenant ledgers (AR)
  • Maintain and reconcile rent rolls and resident ledgers (AR)
  • Assist Property Accountants reconcile daily bank activity as it relates to AR and AP
  • Ad hoc responsibilities as required
Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts clearly and concisely
  • Strong collaboration and customer service approachable and supportive of internal and external customers
  • Goal and resultsoriented can be counted on to meet and exceed goals, and steadfastly move self and others towards results
  • Excellent organization, prioritizing and problemsolving skills
  • Analytical and forwardthinking tackle problems by using a logical systematic and sequential approach, anticipating problems, and developing contingency plans
  • Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant technical discipline with a minimum of 12 years of experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Yardi and related systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products specifically Excel and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Genuinely curious with a desire to understand key metrics and drivers.
