Operations Assistant (casual):

Operations Assistant

Regional Office, Berwick

Casual position effective immediately

Hours of work:
as needed basis

Education Entities Non-Union Compensation Framework, Band 2

Salary $38,526-$48,158 annually (pro-rated for term of employment and depending on qualifications and experience)

Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Non-Union Employees (AVRCE).

Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the Director of Operations.


Qualifications and Abilities:


  • Minimum one year secretarial/clerical training at a Community College or equivalent is required.
  • Previous office experience.
  • Proven clerical skills with strong communication, collaborative, and organizational abilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and SAP.
  • Accounting experience and experience with accounting software.
  • Accurate typing skills and precise electronic filing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately while on a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and the public.
  • Familiarity with current office procedures and equipment.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with SAP modules including Materials Management (Procurement), Plant Maintenance, Finance, Time Entry and Human Capital Management (HCM) Cross-Application Time Sheet (CATS) time entry; and Bus Planner routing software would be considered an asset.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems independently, to work as part of a team and to exercise good judgment, take initiative and accept responsibility, and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Enthusiastic with a pleasant demeanor.

Duties and Requirements:


  • Receive and match packing slips for deliveries with applicable invoices.
  • Prepare, verify, and code invoices for processing payment.
  • Enter data into appropriate database fields, records, and files.
  • Prepare, photocopy, assemble and distribute documents.
  • Initiate purchase orders with appropriate budget financial codes for approval.
  • Prepare spreadsheets for tracking and reporting of data.
