Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in person work, with the in person component primarily taking place at North Campus Edmonton.

UAI's Global Learning team delivers learning opportunities on campus and internationally that enable students to learn about the world, enhance their global competencies and understand their potential as global citizens.

The unit provides support to both institutional and faculty level programming.


Position Summary


The position is responsible for program administration, assisting with student recruitment strategies, developing and implementing global learning-focused student advising and partner relations.

It will also provide support to employers/hosts through the full cycle of recruitment and selection process.


The IOIC will also assist in the monitoring and delivery of emergency support, as back-up to the Risk Management and Scholarship Coordinator.

These support and information services and protocols make possible the operation of programs in the unit and throughout the campus in more than 80 countries.


Duties
Student Advising and Support Services

  • Develops and implements advising and services based on theories of intercultural capacity building and student development.
  • Supports equity, diversity and inclusivity by providing service that addresses barriers to inclusion, access and success (especially for historically excluded groups). This includes being knowledgeable about issues students face abroad and of the resources available to support successful participation.
  • Works directly with students to set goals, identify options and find the best match for an internship.
  • Liaises with relevant parties to identify and resolve complex issues that will affect student participation.
Program and Relationship Management

  • Contributes to the development of UAI and institutional global learning strategic plans by identifying successful programs and barriers to student participation and proposing initiatives to capitalize on opportunities and address challenges.
  • Implements strategic plan objectives and performance targets by creating action plans to accomplish annual goals and identify means to improve work processes and improve efficiency.
  • Develops productive relationships with colleges, faculties and campus student service units, and collaborates with them to develop programs/placements, and support diverse students' participation in global learning opportunities.
  • Ensures service standard goals are achieved with respect to student services and that Faculty clients' expectations and goals are met.
  • Identifies potential international employers/internship hosts by researching key international locations using a variety of resources including, but not limited to, partner universities, industry and professional association directories, and alumni. This also includes acting on leads/contacts identified by University liaison officers in target countries.
