    About the Job

    Reporting to the Housing Services Program Supervisor, the Housing Services Program Assistant coordinates the day-to-day delivery of programs that support affordable housing targets and recommendations contained in the Ministry legislated programs. The Housing Services Program Assistant assists with the creation and ongoing requirements of affordable housing programs, determines eligibility for various housing programs, makes offers of housing, and ensures the general flow of program work within the division. The Assistant assists with special projects and research for new policy development and updates to existing policies.

    Requirements

    Two-year diploma in Business Administration or Social Sciences
    Two years of prior progressively responsible experience working in public housing, social assistance, or a related field
    Ability to maintain positive professional boundaries without imposing personal judgments and expectations on families and clients
    Demonstrated appreciation for and dedication to cultural sensitivity
    Ability to work with sensitivity towards the diverse perspectives of individual clients and community service providers, while meeting the objectives and targets of the department
    Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
    Familiarity with techniques for interacting with individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, in person and over the telephone
    Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion
    Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
    Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
    Meticulous record maintenance skills
    Demonstrated time management skills
    High level of integrity and work ethic
