EveryMind Mental Health Services (formerly Peel Children's Centre) is looking for a highly skilled, experienced, and enthusiastic mental health professional to work in their Crisis Response Services program and respond to crisis situations and provide both telephone and in office/Community crisis response and services to children, youth and their families in the Region of Peel for a full-time permanent Crisis Response Worker position.
Our Crisis Response Services offers immediate aid for children/youth and their families who are dealing with imminent mental health crises and provides a two-tiered response service via telephone and on-site visits to the clients' home, school, or any other location in the community.
EveryMind is an accredited children and youth mental health centre that provides a continuum of high-quality mental health services to enrich the lives of children, youth and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges.
Hiring Salary range - $64,300 - $75,221 over 5 years
Please note that hiring salaries are commensurate with experience and generally start at the beginning of the range.
This position works 37.5 hours per week and requires availability for 24/7/365 shift work.
Shifts are Based on a rotational schedule which includes weekends, public holidays and overnights.

Responsibilities:
The incumbent will:
- Respond to crisis calls from clients in mental health crisis, in a timely manner, implementing verbal deescalation techniques
- Provide immediate crisis assessment and planning;
- Develop and implement safety plans, as required;
- Complete follow up calls and/or visits to the clients, to further support stabilization of the crisis situation and provide linkages to ongoing community supports or counselling;
- Complete all necessary risk and behavioural assessments, utilizing tools such as Columbia Screener
- Suicide assessment tool and Can-CAT
- Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths assessment;
- Based on assessment, utilize effective counselling, problem solving and safety planning skills;
- Work closely with other members of the Crisis Response Service;
- Provide service in the home, in the school or in the community as needed;
- Provide timelimited, transitional case management supports and collaboration with other service providers following the crisis response;
- Work flexible, rotating shifts (including weekends/overnights/public holidays) according to a predetermined schedule and provide on call coverage, since Crisis Response Services operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Bachelor's degree in social services or health related field with a minimum of two years clinical experience
OR 3year CYW diploma with three years clinical experience in children's mental health crisis response services. - Previous experience in a mental health setting and/or distress line.
- Demonstrated knowledge of crisis theory and relevant legislation pertaining to children's mental health, child and family development, mental health issues and community resources.
