We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of a Mine Technician.

Please note that this is not a fly-in, fly-out operation and will be based in Labrador West, NL and will be on a 7/on 7/off rotation.


Responsibilities:


  • Complete survey tasks (grade stakes, toe pickups, blast pattern stakes, etc.) on an asneeded basis to support daily mine production.
  • Monitor progress of roads/dumps for adherence to design and communicate issues to Mine Operations and Mine Planning Personnel.
  • Ensure sufficient field signage (flagging tape, stakes, etc.) is in place to support field projects.
  • Maintain an uptodate survey database within Vulcan software system.
  • Calculate volumes/surface areas/cut/fill, etc. as required.
  • Ensure survey equipment is well maintained and operational.
  • Ensure a sufficient supply of survey materials are in stock (flagging tape, stakes, etc.).
  • Perform blast hole mapping/sampling as required on production and development drill patterns.
  • Perform grade control pit tours to ensure appropriate signage in in place and communicate with shovel operators and Mine Supervisors on ore quality and mine planning issues.
  • Support the Technical Services team with any other duties/projects as required.
  • Support Safety Management programs and regulatory compliance.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of all facets of the mining industry, including measurement and operations safety management and environmental regulations;
  • Strong PC skills, proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD or other mine planning software programs (Vulcan);
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;
  • Strong listening, questioning capabilities.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • 02 years experience in a technical role in a Mining environment.

Education:


  • Mine Survey Technician diploma is preferred, however not required. Internal training is available.

License:


  • Driver's License (required)
