The Finance Business Partner team supporting the Customer Technology Excellence (CTE) groups is an engaged team with a big mandate.

The controller team provides financial leadership to a group enabling technology deployment and driving operational efficiencies having impact across all TELUS business units.

As trusted partners to the CTE team, our Financial Planning & Analysis Finance team helps solve complex business challenges and help achieve operational and strategic goals.

Our team is looking for YOU - someone just as motivated about people as they are about financial analysis As the Controller, you'll be the business partner to a diverse group of leaders including senior executives (several Operational VP's and one SVP).

Your expertise with financial reporting, forecasting and strategy planning will shape critical business decisions.

Your talent for balancing focus on small but important details and the big picture will be invaluable as you address complex challenges with innovative solutions.

Engaging and building strong relationships with internal partners, you'll directly contribute to further elevating the customer experience and our brand.


Here's how
As a Controller, you will be the trusted Finance Business Partner to CTE Business Unit:

  • Network Transformation Financial support
  • Analyze, evaluate and provide economic modeling support for complex financial proposals, business plans or investments to drive improved results, including Operational Efficiency Programs (OEP) and restructure initiatives
  • Prime program FP&A cycle
  • Multi year financial model and liaise with the business units, budget, triage, actuals reporting and variance explanation
  • Liaise with all other financial areas e.g. Corp. & Business Units FP&A team, Capital & Asset Management, Accounting Policy, Taxation, etc.
  • Review quarterly and monthly financial reports & analysis to ensure compliance to program governance framework and liaise with team to provide update to scorecard metrics
  • Cell site leases working knowledge of IFRS16, strong technical accounting skills. Communicate with business partners frequently and provide insight on accounting treatment and financial impact on leasing transactions. Participate in system fixes/upgrades of SAP Real Estate Module
  • Assist in determining and documenting accounting treatment of new and/or unusual transactions and/or implement new accounting policies

  • Month End & Forecasting cycle
  • Perform monthly and periodic activities, including reviewing monthend journal entries, account reconciliations, budget transfers, hierarchy changes, triage/forecast loading, and balance sheet management
  • Review executive operating results packages to be presented to senior leadership team members, including Senior Vice President
  • Provide financial, business and operational driverbased variance analysis and insights and management expectations
  • Maintain SAP Hierarchy and organizational changes and manage the budget transfer process
  • Adhoc & Other
  • Lead and coordinate a diverse range of adhoc financial and operational analysis requests from senior leaders
  • Identify and implement processes under your prevue
  • Get involved and learn about the business we support

As a trusted Finance Business Partner, you'll:

  • Collaborate with leaders to monitor and analyze key performance results and metrics, and provide solutions to mitigate adverse trends
  • Provide valueadd by proactively identifying opportunities to support business strategies and drive operational efficiencies
  • Assist in developing and executing on new processes, including any postmerger integrations as a result of new acquisitions
